See bible verses Matthew 10:6, John 10:35, Matthew 15:24, John 10:16, James 1:1, Jeremiah 50:19-20 and the writings of Josephus for information on the ten lost tribes.  The Jews in Israel today are from the tribe of Judah (and technically the term Jewish comes from the name of Judah), although others from Judah are living elsewhere in the world also, and there may be some other Israelites in Israel calling themselves Jewish.  The lost Hebrew/Israelite diaspora tribes are: Reuben, Simeon, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph (including Ephraim, and Manasseh).  The Levites did not own land.  Very interesting information is available on the following links which explains how at least some of these Hebrews/Israelis ended up in the UK and Ireland. Herbert Armstrong wrote "The United States and Britain in Prophecy" describing the United States as being the tribe of Manasseh and British Commonwealth as being the tribe of Ephraim.

Was Jeremiah the elderly white-haired patriarch, sometimes referred to as a "saint," who came ashore in Ulster in Irish tradition? Wasn't Jeremiah the grandfather of King Zedekiah (last king of Judah); and thus, God's Trustee of the Bloodline and the Throne of David?  From these sources we learn that about 565 B.C., soon after Jeremiah and the kings daughters disappeared in eastern history, there appeared in Ireland at Tara, the seat of the Irish kings, a remarkable and mysterious personage, a prophet named Ollam Fola, who instituted a school of prophets in Ireland. From the number of Hebrew words connected with this mysterious personage he is shown to have been a Hebrew prophet. The only Hebrew prophet who disappeared with any such mission as would take him to the Isles of the West, was Jeremiah, whose bust is in Dublin Castle.  The name of Jeremiah remains everywhere in those parts even today."
